Ferme et Forêt

Home

Welcome to Ferme et Forêt! We’re a farm – and forest – nestled in the Gatineau Hills, just north of Ottawa/Gatineau, near Wakefield, Québec.

Hills meet valley, in our region, as arable fields meet temperate hardwood forests. Ferme et Forêt is where the cultivated meets the wild.

We grow some regular domesticated crops, like asparagus and garlic, but we also grow some semi-wild ones, like shiitake mushrooms and blackberries. Then there’s the wild ones we’ve planted, like elderberries. Giving ourselves fully over to the wild side, we also harvest the wild plants growing around us, whether that’s the wild-growing apples we press into cider, the sumac we turn into lemonade, the herbs we dry into teas, or the 2,800 taps we collect maple sap from and boil down into syrup. Rounding out our offerings, we also keep laying hens, and put our kitchen to good use creating healthy and delicious foods made with the ingredients we produce.

Our mission is to partner with nature to reap the best tastes and highest nutrition, and pass this bounty along to our local community.
