Three local farms, one big fall party.
On September 30, we’ll be throwing our harvest of wild growing apples into our hand cranked cider press, and letting the sweet juice trickle into your waiting cup. We need lots of help with this work: little kids to throw the apples one by one into the apple grinder, older kids to keep the grinder spinning, and even older kids (or young at heart adults) to slowly twist the press tighter and tighter. But by far the biggest job will be drinking all this wild bounty! Any volunteers?
Come watch Dougal Rattray give some of our sheep a haircut! Get here early to see these shearing demos: they will be held at 10am, 11am, and 12pm only.
Grab some lunch while you’re here; we’ll have homemade chicken pot pies for sale. For dessert, try one of our maple tarts.
Putting the culture in agriculture, we’ll have local musical greats Peter Andree on accordion and Brian Sanderson on…everything else!
Finally, if you need a little break from all this excitement, you can take a stroll up to our woods and check out our real life sugar shack and forest grown shiitake mushroom yard.
Le Farm Hop runs from 10am to 4pm. Check out farmhop.ca for all the details, and directions to the three participating farms. See the Facebook event at https://www.facebook.com/events/203522437180780/.
