What is “fire cider”? It’s raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar that has been infused with hot herbs, such as garlic, onions, ginger, horseradish, and hot peppers for a period of several weeks. The herbs are then strained out, and the vinegar is sweetened with raw honey. We like to take a shot of it at the first sign of a scratchy throat – its antimicrobial and immunity-boosting qualities can often head a cold or flu off at the pass.
The recipe was first developed by renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar in the 1980’s.
